The scale needs to be calibrated.

There is a hexagon adjustment screw underneath the base of the scale holding the lever extension to the scale’s lever system. (Please see the photos in your instruction manual.) Please do not loosen the hex screw too much because it will fall out and once out cannot be reinserted properly. Once loosened you can slide the nose iron outward to decrease the indicated weight, or you can slide the nose iron inward to increase the indicated weight. Note: 1/16th of an inch movement will change the indicated weight ¼ pound per 100 pounds. Tighten the hex screw, re-zero the balance beam and apply weight to the scale. Check the indicated weight.
