Digital Midlevel Scales 597KL, 599KL, 752KL, 500KL, 502KL, 499KL, & 498KL

My scale is reading “under”.

The scale is trying to register a reading lower than the initial tolerated weight. Make sure the scale is not touching anything and not against the wall. Also check and make sure the floor where the scale is being used is level. If the scale is still reading under please contact Technical Support at 1 (800) 638-3722 for further assistance.

My scale is giving inconsistent and/or erratic readings.

For new scales; please make sure all the shipping blocks and plates have been removed from the scale. For all scales check and make sure the floor where the scale is being used is level. Check and make sure all four feet are on the scale. If the scale is still reading inconsistent and/or erratic please contact Technical Support at 1 (800) 638-3722 for further assistance.

Scale reading “Over”

The loaded weight on the scale exceeds the scale capacity. Remove excess weight and use scale within its limits. Your scale should not be touching the wall. Always make sure scale is in an open space with nothing touching it. If scale is still reading over please contact Technical Support at 1 (800) 638-3722 for further assistance.

The display reads “Lo Bat”

The batteries are low or dead and need to be replaced with brand new batteries (Duracell or Energizer batteries recommended).

Scale not weighing correctly or scale will not zero out.

Check and make sure the floor where the scale is being used is level. If scale is still reading incorrectly, it may be out of calibration. To double-check take a known weight and place it on the scale to see what it is reading. If the scale is not within tolerance, the scale may need to be calibrated. If your scale will not zero out make sure no one is on the scale and nothing is touching the scale. Manually zero unit out by pressing the zero key and try weighing the patient again. If problem still exists contact Technical Support for further assistance at 1 (800) 638-3722.

The scale does not turn on.

Possible dead batteries; please change batteries with brand new ones (Duracell or Energizer preferred). If using an adapter, try using a different outlet. For Models 597KL, 599KL, 752KL: Check to see if the red indicator light is on. If so, and the scale still is not coming on contact Technical Support at 1 (800) 638-3722 for further assistance.

My scale is giving me an error message (error 6 or 7). Models 597KL, 599KL, 752KL Only.

When the scale reads an error message 6 or 7, the display is not recognizing the load cells. Check the load cell cable and make sure that it is plugged in correctly. If all cables are connected correctly, contact Technical Support at 1 (800) 638-3722 for further assistance.

The height rod on my 500KL is off.
How do I measure a patient’s height on the Digital 502KL Scale with a Digital Height Rod?

ProPlus Scales 4011, 4021, 4025, 4026, 4261, 4650, 4700 and 4024

For new scales; please make sure all the shipping blocks and plates have been removed from the scale. Check and make sure the floor where the scale is being used is level. Check and make sure all four feet are on the scale are level and properly adjusted. Make sure all four feet are not fully tightened into the platform bottom.

The display is reading “Menu Lock” and I cannot get into the Menu.

Press the Menu button (#1) for about 20 seconds to deactivate the menu lock to get into the main menu.

Scale is giving a sensor error.

Possible problem with one or more of the load cells or the load cell cable is disconnected. Check the load cell cable and reconnect if disconnected. If possible bad load cell, please contact Technical Support for assistance at 1 (800) 638-3722.

Scale reading “Overload”

What type of batteries do the ProPlus® scales use?

The Proplus® scales use six D-Cell batteries (Duracell or Energizer batteries recommended)

When I turn my scale on it reads “no load” or “no load cells”.

Make sure the load cell cable is plugged in correctly. The load cell cable should plug into the display head and also in the base of the scale. If the scale is plugged in correctly and scale still reads “no load” or “no load cell” contact Technical Support at 1 (800) 638-3722 for further assistance.

Mechanical Balance Beam Scales (400 series)

The scale needs to be calibrated.

There is a hexagon adjustment screw underneath the base of the scale holding the lever extension to the scale’s lever system. (Please see the photos in your instruction manual.) Please do not loosen the hex screw too much because it will fall out and once out cannot be reinserted properly. Once loosened you can slide the nose iron outward to decrease the indicated weight, or you can slide the nose iron inward to increase the indicated weight. Note: 1/16th of an inch movement will change the indicated weight ¼ pound per 100 pounds. Tighten the hex screw, re-zero the balance beam and apply weight to the scale. Check the indicated weight. Keep repeating this step until unit is within tolerance. (Contact Technical Support for further assistance at 1 (800) 638-3722).

My scale is inconsistent and giving different readings each time a weight is registered.
  1. First make sure the scale is balanced at zero before weighing. If the scale is balanced and the beam pointer is floating freely and scale is still reading inconsistent, platform may be pressing against the base causing the base to possibly be out of alignment. There should be an even space between the platform and the base. (Contact Technical Support for further assistance at 1 (800) 638-3722).

Or:

  1. Look underneath the base to make sure there are no foreign objects lodged in the base of the scale. Also make sure no parts have fallen out of the base of the scale. If either instance is the case the base may need to be replaced. (Contact Technical Support for further assistance at 1 (800) 638-3722).
My beam is not moving freely.
  1. Remove the end caps (the rectangular box next to the large poise with the medical emblem on it). There is one screw in the front and one in the back. Once caps have been removed sternly jiggle the beam assembly to loosen the scale mechanics. With caps still off balance the beam with the adjustment screw to the left side of the beam. Turn counterclockwise or clockwise until beam is floating freely in the center. Replace the end caps.

Or:

  1. There is an opening underneath the T-bar section of the beam. Inside there is a multi level assembly with 3 u-shape loops. Make sure the steel rod is attached in the center and all the u-shape loops are positioned properly. Next, double check the base and make sure the steel rod is properly connected to the nose iron. (Using the pull loop take your finger pull the loop while pressing against the base and place the hook in the nose iron hole). (See photos in your instruction manual.)
My scale will not balance at zero.
  1. Place both the large and small poise on zero (make sure both poises are in the zero notches all the way to the left shoulder of the beam). To balance the beam at zero, turn the adjustment screw to the left of the beam counter clockwise to raise the beam pointer or clockwise to lower the beam pointer until beam is floating freely in the center.

Or:

  1. Check and make sure the scale was put together properly. Lay the scale on an angle where the base is hanging free. Make sure the steel rod is securely hooked to the nose iron underneath the base. (See photos in your instruction manual.)
